ZISU 2014 students going abroad projects
promotion meeting was held recently. President Hong Gang chaired the evaluation
meeting of these students going abroad projects and said that students’ going
abroad is an important part of ZISU internationalization strategy as well as an
important way to integrate with oversea high-quality educational resources and
elevate the quality of talents cultivation. Hong Gang affirmed the achievements
that ZISU has achieved during the past years and put forward some specific
requirements on concepts and ideas about how to promote students going abroad
projects greatly.
The promotion meeting of 2014 stuck to the
principle of “From the Students, by the Students, for the Students”. The
preparation, implementation and feedback stages are all centered on students.

Exploit students’ potentials of creativity
The overall planning activities, early
online questionnaire, online media publicity, writing and making of sponsored
stories, event execution and late feedback of the promotion meeting are all led
and conducted by students with support and help from office of international
cooperation and exchange. In terms of effects, this promotion meeting is close
to the student's perspective and thinking, which attracted much more students compared
with previous years.

Provide cross-culture experience that
welcomed by students
In addition to the traditional activity of
listening to elder students’ stories of studying abroad, this promotion meeting
sets special activity of “endorsement for my school”, which invites guests from
Moldova, Kazakhstan and the U.S. to share their countries and lives in
universities. This activity created a proper atmosphere for the meeting and
brought an exotic feeling for students who attended.

Listen to the voice of students
Surveying and researching ran through the
whole process of promotion meeting. Project score tables for students who are
studying abroad as well as more than 300 on-line questionnaires have provided a
thorough diagnosis for students demand levels, types and time points, which is
an important reference for works on students going abroad projects in the next
step. One students remarked that attending going abroad projects is not only
for broadening one’s horizon, but also for broadening one’s mind, thus could
make one person become more inclusive and understand the existence of
differences.

It is reported that ZISU have set 34
projects in 12 categories from the year of 2010, and supported 406 students to
study or communicate in 19 countries and regions. In the future, ZISU will
stick to the goal of international application talents cultivation, and further
fulfill the collaborative innovation between schools and related departments,
try to develop and run students going abroad projects in a high-quality,
creative, smooth and thorough way. Thirty four teachers from department of
student affairs, office of academic affairs and related schools evaluated the
34 projects as a whole, and discussed on topics such as optimization of
structures and contents of these projects, procedures for sending out students
within projects as well as the work team.
