The 14th session of Zhejiang “Challenge
Cup—Innovative Xiasha” final contest of college student extracurricular
academic science and technology works was held in Xiasha from May 22 to May 24.
After fierce competition, the students’ academic team “Zheshuifuwen” from
School of Chinese Studies won first prize with the work “A study on the
language and culture of the name of the islands in the East China Sea under
China’s strategy of becoming a maritime power”, which is under the instruction
of associate professors Ying Xuefeng and Mao Zhenhua, and the team consists of
six students: Xi Liuqing, Chen Yuwei, Qian Sunchao, Xie Shangpei, Yu Xiang and
Zhan Tianlei. This is the second time for ZISU students to win a first prize in
this contest, which demonstrated ZISU students’ erudition and excellence in
doing research.
It is reported that “Challenge Cup” contest
of college student extracurricular academic science and technology works is
known as the “Olympic” event among the contests of the same kind in China. The
contest attracted a total of more than 60 thousands students to participate in
it and received more than 800 works from universities in Zhejiang, which
involved in areas like machinery and control, information technology, life
sciences, energy and chemical, social, economic, education, management and
other academic areas.
