From September 17 to 18,the campuswas filled with excitementas over 340 international students completed their registration. Hailing from nearly 50 countries across four continents—Asia, Europe, Africa, and South America—these students represent nations including Russia, Belarus, Spain, Brazil, Chile, Morocco, Thailand, Vietnam, Italy, and Kazakhstan. Driven by their curiosity for Chinese culture, thirst for knowledge, and pursuit of dreams, they are about to embark on a new journey at ZISU. Zhang Huanzhou, President of ZISU, and Vice President Chai Gaiying, came to the reception and shared warm greetings with thestudents and their parents.

Zhang was satisfied with this year’senrolment. She urged the International College to work closely with other relevant schools and administrative departments in order to ensure that every student is provided with ample resources fortalentdevelopment, guidance on study opportunities, and platforms to connect with local communities. She emphasized the importance of “one blueprint, one family, one goal,” a vision for international student education, and promised to foster an internationalized atmosphere at ZISU and enhance the university’s capacity to serve cultural exchange and mutual learning among civilizations.

Prior to the reception, Vice Presidents Zhang Liang and Chai Gaiying led a special coordination meeting for international student orientation. Relevant units worked closely and efficiently together to provide “one-stop” reception for the students, ensuring a smooth registration and a comfortable experience.

Salah, a student from Libya who has studied at ZISU for 4 years, will start his new journey as a postgraduate student here. “I majored in cross-border e-commerce. When I learned that the university began enrolling international postgraduate students, I was extremely excited and applied immediately. I feel very fortunate to become one of ZISU’s first international postgraduates. I hope to serve as a bridge for China-Arab economic and trade cooperation in the future,” he said.

“Everything went smoothly—from getting off the plane, checking into the dormitory, to completing registration. ZISU is beautiful, and the volunteers and teachers are enthusiastic. They made me feel at home,” shared Andriani, a freshman from Indonesia, with delight as she talked about her initial campus experience.

Marshall Sambolla, parent of Kiafa Nuchboy Sambolla (a new student from Liberia), attended a training program organized by China’s Ministry of Commerce at ZISU earlier this year. This time, he accompanied his son to the university. “I am very happy to be back here. My experience studying in China and at ZISU earlier this year impressed me a lot. I witnessed the development of China and Zhejiang with my own eyes. I hope my son will study hard at ZISU and have a brighter future,” he said.

International student education is a key component of ZISU’s internationalization initiative. After the students are settled, the university will organize events such as an opening ceremony, new student orientation, and course introduction sessions. These activities will help the students gain a deeper understanding of ZISU’s history, teaching practice, and program requirements, laying a solid foundation for them to quickly adapt to study and life on campus.
